Ukulele

One of the smallest of the general string family of instruments, the ukulele has had a huge resurgence. There are four usual members in this family.  From smallest to biggest they are the soprano, concert, tenor and baritone. They have four nylon strings (the baritone’s two lowest are nylon wound) and some also come with a pickup allowing them to be plugged into and amplifier. Many of the primary schools in the Bega Valley and Eurobodalla Shires are now running comprehensive programs with great success.

In Magpie Music we stock all four members of the uke family. For under $30 there are a range of soprano coloured ukes available and these also come with a carry bag. From the concert size up the price increases.  For example a Tiki Tenor uke with a solid Mahogany top,  a built in tuner & pickup and a hard case is $349.  It is a lovely instrument with beautiful intonation.
